Cada vez es más frecuente que las casas de subastas, nacionales e internacionales, opten por ampliar su mercado. Así, veremos como no se limitan a ofrecer a sus clientes lo que todos consideramos como obras de arte: escultura, pintura, artes decorativas, etcétera, sino que abren el abanico de opciones incluyendo elementos de moda, como son los bolsos y otros complementos de grandes marcas, ya consolidadas (Hermès, Channel, Louis Vuitton…)
Este tipo de piezas suscita un enorme interés entre los clientes de las casas de subastas, porque supone la posibilidad de adquirir a precios reducidos objetos que en sus establecimientos de venta originales tendrían un coste muy superior.
Además, entre las piezas ofertadas, podemos encontrar objetos icónicos de dichas marcas, y que ya no se encuentran a la venta, no al menos en su formato original. Tal es el caso del bolso “Kelly” de Hermès,
También llamado Kelly Bag, es uno de los referentes en accesorios de la firma de moda Hermès. Un gran símbolo que dota de mucha historia en la Maison. Su origen nos hace trasladarnos a 1925. Realmente no se conocía con este nombre, sino como Haut à courroies. La traducción sería “con correas encima”.
Tampoco tenía las mismas dimensiones que tiene ahora. Y es que no estaba destinado a ser llevado para lucirlo por la calle, sino que era para llevar accesorios para jinetes y sus caballos. Era mucho más grande, claro.
Pero sobre 1930, Hermès pensó en democratizarlo para consagrarlo como un referente en moda. Por ello, creyó favorable adaptarlo más a las manos, reducir su tamaño y enfocarlo más como un accesorio más casual para cualquier mujer.
Fue décadas después, cuando adquirió su actual denominación. La princesa Grace Kelly usó este mismo modelo para tapar su embarazo antes las cámaras. Recordemos el éxito mediático que poseía por aquel entonces. Fue, entonces, en los 50, cuando este magnífico bolso pasó a llamarse Kelly, en honor a la princesa. Y es que estas imágenes ocultando su embarazo fueron tan movidas y se popularizaron de tal forma que Hermès no tuvo más remedio que llamarlo así.
Como ya hemos mencionado, son habituales las subastas temáticas, centradas en este tipo de objetos, que se celebran con asiduidad. Nos gustaría señalar una subasta actual, celebrada en Christie´s, en su modalidad online (28 septiembre-1 de octubre de 2014): “Luxury handbags & accesories”, en la cual podemos encontrar gran variedad de piezas, desde bolsos a maletas o cinturones, todos ellos pertenecientes a las grandes marcas ya mencionadas.
En ella podemos acceder a piezas míticas, y con el valor que les otorga el paso del tiempo, por un precio mucho menor del que lo haríamos en las boutiques de las diferentes marcas.
